From HNL to HAM- A primary source
On 9/10/01, I stood on the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor in silence, respect, and contemplation for the loss of lives many years before. On the way out, I visited the museum gift shop and purchased a journal. Little did I know at the time, all that I would be expressing in my journal for days to come. When I woke up in the early morning of 9/11/01, most of the island was still asleep. As I was informed of the attacks on the World Trade Center, my heart sunk.
As an LMS, it is my responsibility to provide resources that assist upcoming generations to comprehend the events of September 11, and how people around the world responded.
Resources on 9/11:
14 Cows for America, by Carmen Agra Deedy, is the true story of selflessness and profound generosity. Nine months after September 11th, the Maasai people of Kenya bestow upon the United States a gift that will move you.
